Though on a national scale, the sport of tennis recently went through a lot of controversy with the Serena Williams scandal, BSHS tennis is on a role, going undefeated most of the year and recently winning districts
With the district tournament come and gone, the girls did all they could to prepare for the huge challenge that was facing them.
“That week we had been practicing conditioning and since the competition has always been windy we practiced keeping the ball low and hitting into the wind,” senior Caitlyn Sporing said.
The girls had one of the most dominant seasons on record and won districts for the second year in a row — but that is not what Sporing said was her favorite memory.
“Freshman year there was rodent that was chasing me and I fell and it was the scariest thing that has ever happened but it’s still one of my favorite memories,” Sporing said.
Caitlyn Sporing, Bentley Walters, Allie Brown, Malina McGaw, Jenna Pope and Dani Madison all played a part in defeating Grain Valley for the district title. Caitlyn Sporing advanced to state as an individual. Team tennis sectional are this Saturday Oct 13 at Lee’s Summit West.
