Senior Spotlight: Genessis Lemus Preparing for the Next Chapter, Student Writer
Article written by: Bella Wilkerson
As the school year begins, our seniors are slowly stepping into adulthood and getting ready for their final moments at Blue Springs High School. Many have probably already said, “my last first day of high school.” Among these seniors is Genessis Lemus, who has attended Blue Springs High all four years and has enjoyed building connections with both new and familiar faces—including teachers and staff who have supported her through good times and challenges.
Genessis plans to attend Metropolitan Community College (MCC) to pursue a career as an ultrasound technician, with a minor to complement her studies. When asked about sports, she explained that she hasn’t been interested in them—not because she dislikes them, but simply because they’re not for her.
At home, Genessis has one cat named Cheeto (named for his orange color) and one sister named Joy. When I asked who she looks up to, she didn’t hesitate to say her mom, describing her as someone who is always there for her and has never disappointed her.
In her free time, Genessis enjoys shopping and going to the gym, which she says helps calm her. Her favorite color is royal blue, and her favorite season is fall. Her favorite teacher is Mrs. Reichers, one of the Spanish teachers here at Blue Springs High School. Finally, when asked whether she likes her hair better up or down, she said she prefers it down.
As Genessis prepares to graduate, she reflects the strength, resilience, and ambition of the Class of 2025.
