Fall sports update

With winter sports quickly approaching and all fall sports either already completed or headed into the postseason, a wrapup of the 2019 fall sports season follows:
- The softball team fell to Blue Springs South in a district semifinal game, ending their season with a record of 17-10. Senior standout Bella Andrews finished her final high school game with two doubles and an RBI. Senior Savannah Maynard had a single and a double to end her high school softball career.
- At tennis sectionals, senior Bentley Walters qualified for state, and junior Allie Brown fell just short of being state bound. Walters went on and placed 7th, earning First Team All-State.
- Enjoying an exceptional season, girls golf star senior Lauren Muller earned her second consecutive conference championship and finished with a score of 89 and took 4th place. At districts, Muller shot a 95 and finished in ninth earning all-district honors. Her performance here advanced her to sectionals, where she then scored an 87, securing her spot competing at state for her fourth and final time. Muller finished in 55th place out of 90 with a combined score of 184 after two rounds.
- Boys swim and dive preps for their conference tournament, October 31st-November 2nd. Two divers have qualified for state on November 16th: junior diver Josiah Thomson, who has been named the metro’s top diver, helps lead the teams overall record of 28-1, and freshman diver JJ Davis.
- Boys soccer finished their regular season games on the 30th, falling to LSW with a score of 2-1. Sitting at a 12-11-1 record, they begin districts against LSN on November 4th. Senior Carlos Llamas has been a consistent scorer for the Cats throughout the season.
- Football has their first postseason game this Friday in Columbia against Rock Bridge. Looking at a 5-4 overall, their last regular season game against Park Hill ended in a 0-12 loss. Senior Brett Lavar had a great interception, but after turning it over on downs, the team remained scoreless..
- Boys and girls cross country had districts on the 26th and both earned 4th place overall. For the boys, junior Brock Wooderson placed 2nd with a time of 15:42.8 and for the girls, senior Alyna Thibault placed 4th with a time of 19:07.9. They have sectionals on November 2nd.
- Volleyball started districts on the 29th defeating Truman in two sets. They then played cross town rival, Blue Springs South on the 30th for the district championship and came home with the championship title. Their current record is 22-10, and went into districts with a lot of momentum after beating South at the annual Dig For The Cure game. Junior setter Lily Letchworth had one of her best games yet, giving her front row hitters 25 perfect sets. Sophomore Chloe Kaminski and senior Cherray Wilson both led the team with 8 kills each. They are hosting sectionals this Saturday, and the outcome will determine if they head to state the following weekend.
