As the Class of 2025 prepares to graduate in May, Blue Springs High School wanted to gather some valuable advice for the incoming seniors of 2026. We visited several offices around the school and spoke to a few students in the halls to hear their thoughts. A mix of senior girls and guys shared their perspectives on what advice they would give to the next class of seniors.
Brock Leffler’s senior quote, “Stay positive and never skip class,” holds special meaning for him. Brock reflects on his past experience, admitting that he used to skip class just to “do anything else”—whether that was hanging out with friends, locking himself in the bathroom, or just going home. He now understands the importance of attending class regularly and staying on top of his work to ensure he gets his high school credits.
For Julian Choise, sophomore year was a particularly challenging time due to the loss of his grandmother in the fall. He describes that time as a “mental challenge” where his grades slipped, and it became harder for him to stay motivated and happy. Despite these struggles, Julian’s senior quote, “It only gets harder before it gets easier,” reflects his perseverance. Now, looking toward his future, Julian plans to work full time after high school rather than attending college.
Isabel Edwards knows that senior year is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and her senior quote, “Say yes more,” is a reflection of that mindset. She encourages the next senior class to step out of their comfort zones and embrace opportunities, even when they don’t feel like it. Isabel believes that by saying “yes,” you’ll have more fun and create lasting memories.
Ali Blatt’s senior quote, “Try new things,” speaks to the importance of stepping out of your comfort zone. Ali grew up dancing but didn’t pursue it in high school until her freshman year, when she felt lost. One day, she decided to try out for the cheer team—and she made it! Looking back, she considers it one of the best decisions she ever made. After high school, Ali plans to take a gap year to figure out her next steps.
Laci Patrick’s senior quote is a warning: “Don’t start skipping class.” Laci emphasizes that “senioritis” is real, and once you start skipping, it’s hard to stop. After graduation, Laci plans to attend dental school at her mom’s dental office in Lee’s Summit.
As we approach the end of the school year, the Class of 2023 leaves behind some timeless advice for the Class of 2026. Whether it’s staying positive, embracing new experiences, or staying committed to your goals, these seniors have learned valuable lessons that will help guide the next generation.
