Just in time for the holiday season, St. Vincent de Paul is having their annual parish clothing drive. The days for collection were Sunday, November 11th to Tuesday, November 13th. All clothing donations, which were the only items being donated this time around, were taken to the parish center.

They were collected for the drive that started on Monday, November 12th, and ended Wednesday, November 14th. All visitors were welcomed from noon to 8PM each night.

Everyone was invited to the sale and families were allowed to take the clothing at no charge at all.

The event is done every second week in November.

Anybody is welcome to take the items that they need–whether it be for themselves or for somebody else.

“There is a man who comes every year and buys piles of clothing for the homeless-some who live under bridges-shoes, socks, shirts, jeans, coats, and blankets,” Judy Norfolk, an organizer of the event, said. “It makes us feel really good to know that people who need those items, and have no way to get to our sale, have someone who knows where they are, and delivers much needed clothing to them every year,” Norfolk said.

Free-will donations–donations that are given from the kindness of the heart and can be in any price range–were accepted to help the less fortunate families during the holiday season, but not required.

“The clothing drive helps a lot of people in our area who are in need of clothes in the cold weather,” Norfolk concluded.

If student’s find themselves in a tight spot financially, they may stop by the clothing drive to pick up all their winter necessities for no charge.
