Coach Huttinger, the junior varsity cheer coach, knows from experience that cheerleading is far from easy. “Coaching can sometimes be challenging and even frustrating, but I continue to coach because of my love for the sport, the kids, and watching them grow as cheerleaders,” she says. Huttinger is a dedicated and passionate coach who treats all her students like her own children. “I wish all my babies the best out there,” she adds.
Some athletes, like Paige Marshall and Sibora Huda, decided to try cheerleading this school year to explore new opportunities and get involved. Both have enjoyed learning more about the team and improving their skills.
Sydney Chriss, another newcomer to the sport, is excited to finally feel confident enough to participate in a school sport. She’s thoroughly enjoying the experience and hopes to eventually move up to one of the varsity teams, making cheerleading her main focus.
Paige says, “I’ve played a lot of sports growing up, but cheer has been my favorite so far.” What she loves most about cheerleading is the support and nonjudgmental atmosphere of her team. Although she acknowledges the challenges of being a cheerleader, the positive experiences with her teammates far outweigh the difficulties.
Sibora shared, “I’m very glad to be able to get the full experience in America, like I’ve always wanted.” She’s always dreamed of being a cheerleader, but never had the opportunity in Albania. Now, her experience in America has been everything she hoped for and more. She values the friendships she’s made on the team and appreciates the chance to experience American culture firsthand.
Cheerleaders put in a lot of sweat and hard work, and their dedication deserves recognition. So, come out and support them!
