The Glitter Girls’ dance team made school history, winning first place at the National Dance Championship. Competing against top teams from across the country, the group stood out for their strong performance, precision, and teamwork. This victory marks the first national title in the program’s history and shows the team’s dedication throughout the season.
For preparations for the competitions, they spent a lot of time practicing and making their routine the best possible. They focused on perfecting their timing, technique, and overall performance quality. Their routine was a high-energy choreography, which helped them earn a high score in the competition. The judges recognized their synchronization while maintaining strong expressions and stage presence.
The team’s success did not come easily. Throughout the season, they faced long practices, physical challenges, and the pressure of competing at a high level. They remained committed to reaching the goal they all had in mind, improving day by day. Their success also came with the ability to work together as a family and support each other in the lows and highs, and this played a huge role in their success.
The win has brought pride to the school. The win also brought attention to the school’s dance program, with future generations wanting to achieve the same. These girls showed the talent and determination that they bring to the team.
This achievement sets a new standard for future dancers and encourages others to pursue their goals with dedication. The girls’ dance team showed what can be accomplished through teamwork, discipline, and perseverance. Their success will be remembered as an important moment in the school and dance program for years to come.

Erin Brown, coach of the dance team, was excited to talk about her team. We asked what she is most proud of about the team, and she shared her excitement, saying, “Oh my gosh, this is my favorite thing to talk about. They never for a minute gave up or stopped believing that this could happen, and they also did it with so much laughter at practice and so much joy. They loved each other so much, and they just kept a positive attitude all the way through.”
The dance team put in a lot of work to get to state. Now imagine what it took to win it. We asked senior Addison Schmidt what was the most difficult routine and why. She explained, “Definitely our team performance because it was the hardest because it had four styles all in one, and it was a lot of stamina work, and my legs were tired because I had a big lift.” We also asked her if the performance was a memory that would stick with her forever. Addison shared, “Yeah, for sure, because it is like the first time in history, so it’s a nice experience to be a part of it.” What a remarkable way to conclude senior year, with a state victory that will undoubtedly remain a memorable milestone for many of the dancers throughout their lives.
To achieve a goal in life, you must dedicate time, even if that means personal time, which is what these dancers gave up, achieving their goal of winning state. But the question is how many hours they were practicing to achieve this big accomplishment. Senior Emerson Wood shared with us, saying, “I would say we practiced about eight hours a week, not including basketball and football games. We had morning practices, and that was the one where we really tried our best.” That is what happens when you put in the work. You get a W.
Overall, we give congrats to the dance team for winning state and for the hard work each one of them put into this big accomplishment. This is the first state win for them. Let us hope there are many more to come, and for the seniors on the team, what a way to end your senior year with one last dance that led you guys to victory.
